03/31/16 - On 3/20, Dick, Diana and I set out in the jeep to do some off roading in the back country. Dick determined the route which including driving up toward a mountain that had evidence of mining and has an observatory on the top. Our drive was very interesting. We first encounter a couple of dogs running free along the road. Then we saw a jack rabbit. All of a sudden we came up to some cows that were grazing along the road and walking on the road. Some had the cutest little calves. Of course, we had to stop and just let them cross the road or we very slowly moved along the road with them. All of sudden, we heard a helicopter in the canyon and so figured out it was being used to do a cattle round up. It flew so low and the cattle started crossing the road again and we sat and watched. I never knew that modern day ranchers use helicopters to herd cattle. It was quite interesting. On our way out, we stopped off at some ruins that used to be a little town. I have attached a picture:
