2/26/15 - We left the campground around 10:00 for Galveston, Texas.  We had about 50 miles.  We got to the Railroad Museum a little after 11:00 so we decided to eat our sandwiches in the car before going through the museum.  It was very interesting and we got to walk several different train cars and most of them were very old.  We then left for the ferry dock because there was a free car ferry that went to Port Bolivar Peninsula.  On the way, we parked in the front and it was rough enough that the car got sprayed with salt water.  We drove up and down the peninsula and then took the ferry back to the mainland.  We stopped off at a McDonald's for ice cream and wasted some time since we had planned to have dinner in Galveston.  We then found a car wash and also washed the car before heading for dinner.  We ate at the Gumbo Diner right on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico.  Here is a picture of fried Okra and my first taste of gumbo (chicken and sausage).  It was very good.  Aunt Esther had the fish tacos.

                                                 My dinner!!
02/26/15 -  On Monday (2/23), we sent out to check out the neighborhood and were looking for a grocery store but we could not find one for a while and then we turned around and went the other way and so we found all kinds of things which include a Walmart and we did some shopping and then found a Wells Fargo ATM machine so I was able to get some cash as well.

2/24 - we had to go to CVS and I picked up my semi annual shot of Prolia.  It was cold and rainy so we did not do much else.

2/25 - it quite raining in the morning so we decided to drive to southeast Houston and visited the Houston Space Center.  We did not get there until noon time and did not realize that they had scheduled shows and information so we were not able to do everything but it still was a great day and a very interesting place.  Here is a picture I got on our way out:

2/22/15 - On 2/21 we got early to go to a flea/produce market which was advertising as being rather large and when we got there, I think maybe there were 5 booths!!   We did buy some things but then on our way back, we passed a large produce market so there we finished our shopping.  It was really windy but the temperature was great so enjoyed the outdoors a little bit but then since we thought it was going to rain, we went to see "Still Alice". It was a good movie but I sure did not like the ending.

Today, we took off around 9:50am for Houston, Texas.  We had about 300 miles so would be a full day.  We thought we might have to drive in rain but we were lucky and it never rained.  We stopped off for lunch at a little truck stop and then also stopped at a visitor's center just inside of Texas to get more information while we are here.  Outside in the back of the building, they had built a walkway over the swamp that included a lot of animals but we only saw turtles and birds.  It was very interesting.  When we got to the campground we soon learned that we were a part of a HUGE flea market event and there were people everywhere.  We did find the office to check in and then unhooked the car and found out spot.  We are in northwest Houston so things are not very close so will have to make lists to do things while out in various areas.  Now watching the "Oscars"

2/20/15 - On 2/19, we drove about 65 miles southeast to a town named Slidell, La and took a two hour swamp cruise.  It was very interesting.  I was dressed as if in the north and most of the time it was OK until he decided to drive the flat hull single boat for the swamp really fast!!  The guy was a local and very informative.  We went under a bridge that gets a paint job about every 7 years and if a boat is going down the Pearl River, they need to give the bridge attendant 4 hours notice to raise the bridge since he has several other bridges he is responsibility for.  Pictures attached from the cruise:

2/18/15 - On 2/16, we drove around and got a little familiar with the area.  We did some grocery shopping and called it a day.  It has been really cold here so have not done much walking except when shopping.

On 2/17, we decided to try to check out downtown Baton Rouge.  The city sits right on the Mississippi River so we crossed over, turned around and crossed back.  There is some walking places along the river but has just been way too cold for me.  We did take a tour of the capitol building which was very interesting.  It is much older than the Tallahassee one and was full of marble.  Had some history since one of the governors was killed in the hallway.  They had a wonderful observation deck on the 27th floor but the wall was high enough that I really could not see some garden area so Aunt Esther went inside and asked if there was something I could stand on and sure enough they found a wooden box.  It was really neat since I could then see all of the garden area.  They have apartments on the grounds for the certain government officials during the time legislature is in session.  It is built in a pentagon shape.  On one side it was really windy and cold but when in the sun it wasn't too bad.

Today, we don't have any plans but if it warms up a little with no wind, I might be able to sit outside since we are parked right up against a lake.  It all depends on the weather.

02/15/15 - On 2/12 I woke up with my Aunt Esther throwing up and later just dry heaves that just would not stop.  We finally decided that she needed some medication and in order to get something to stop the heaving.  We went to the ER and got there around 7:00pm.  Of course, there was a wait and then finally some things started to happen.  She had an IV for hydration, blood work, chest x-ray, then a CT scan to rule out gall bladder issues.  After some medication, she was able to keep some water down so we were able to go back to the RV.  We got back around 1:15am.  We went to bed.

2/13 - I went to WalMart to fill a RX for her to learn that I had to pay the full amount since they needed her new insurance card but could get reimbursed if I came back within 7 days.  She did eat some cup of soup and felt good enough to go back to WalMart to get some of the money back that I had paid.  We spent the rest of the day making sure she was not heaving and getting some rest. The soup did not set well but not heaving.

2/14 - Aunt Esther spent most of the day resting and sleeping.  She did eat a small smashed red potato and some yogurt.

Today, she felt a little better.  She had another potato for breakfast and we slowly got ready to head out for Louisiana.  We got off about 11:20am this morning with about 125 miles to go.  We had a good trip and Aunt Esther is doing much better. We got to the new campground around 2:00pm.  We had a little difficulty getting the car unhooked but had some help because this campground escorts you to your spot and the guy was very helpful.  We are settled in for the week.

2/11/15 -  Onn 2/9, we walked the campground to check things out, then drove to Biloxi to the visitors center to get information and drove up and down the beach blvd.  Biloxi sits right on the water and beach blvd runs all along the beach.  It is beautiful.  On 2/10, we did some grocery shopping, found a produce market, went back to the visitors center since they had a movie scheduled at 2:00pm regarding Katrina.  It was very interesting.  We then stopped off at a casino to just check it out since we needed to waste some time because there was not a cloud in the sky and so I wanted to watch a beautiful sunset.  I have attached a picture.  We then took off and went to a Mexican restaurant since I was so hungry for mexican food.  It was very good and we got a lot of food.

Today, we have some things to mail so will go to find a post office.  I lost a thing on the tow bar of the car so want to find a replacement and then will check out a shopping center that we found on the way home last night.  Otherwise, nothing exciting.

2/8/15 - Today we got up early since the heater had failed to come on and both of us were cold.  We had planned to get up at 8:00am since we had a big day ahead of us.  We decided to leave earlier than planned.  We are heading for Biloxi, Mississippi.  This was Aunt Esther's first experience in driving Winnie (the RV) and we had approximately 310 miles.  Most of the driving was on the interstate so she was able to cruise right along.  We stopped at a rest stop for lunch and then arrived at the campground around 3:00pm.  It was nice because we gained an hour since we are now in cental time.  We checked in, found our spot and were all hooked up by aroud 4:00pm.  This is the first time that I am parked on cement and it sure made leveling the RV much faster.  We are right under a huge tree, so was not able to get dish so we are using the cable that is provided by the campground.  It is a large campground and appears to be very nice but we have not done any exploring as of it.  That will happen tomorrow.  We are both tired from the day so off to be early.  It is warmer right now than Florida was but by Friday is suppose to be cold again.  We will be here for the week.

2/5/15 - On Monday, (2/2) we did some driving around downtown Tallahassee but was rather cold and windy so did not do much else.  We have been having trouble with the water pressure and I just could not figure it out.

On (2/3) we decided to go visit the Spanish mission named San Luis. It was a very interesting mission since it was shared by the Indians and the Spaniards and they built a fort for protection.  They got word the British were coming and so burned the whole mission down and left for Alabama and Louisiana.  It has been rebuilt to keep the history.

On (2/4) I decided to take off the water regulator and lo and behold we had a lot of water pressure so decided I needed to go to Camping World and buy another regulator.  Since it was raining all night, we decided to go see a movie and then go buy the regulator.  When we got  home, we soon learned that we had a leak somewhere since the rug was really wet in front of the refrigerator. I knew about a valve to turn off the water to the ice maker in the refrigerator which was under the sink but could not turn it off.  Aunt Esther also tried to turn it off and we just could not get it to move.  One of the neighbors across the little road, pulled up while I was outside checking out where I thought the leak might be and I asked if he could just turn off the value because that should stop the leak until we could figure out where it was coming from so we would not have to do without water. He agreed and did turn the valve but then told me that he sometimes works on RV's and would like to see if he can find the leak but then I had already kinda located it.  At first he thought we would have to pull out the refrigerator but then I suggested we first pull out the panel on the outside of the RV.  He agreed and immediately discovered the leak.  He then cleaned it out, changed the washer and made it tighter.  He came back in and turned the valve back on.  I had to move the boxes from the storage area and put them in the car since they were getting wet.  The rug was so wet we used a lot of towels to try and get it dry.  We then put a little portable heater to it for the night.

2/5 - Today, we washed all the towels, cleaned up the RV and had a fan on the rug most of the day.  It was a nice day since we had sun all day.  We then decided to have pizza for dinner so we did not have to cook.

2/1/15 -  On 12/30 - We decided to do laundry before we left for Tallassee and after everything was one, I found the hamper in the bathroom full of dirty clothes!!  Of course we were upset with each other but decided would do that load of laundry on Saturday.  Aunt Esther and I were invited over to Coleman and Judy's house for a delicious dinner.  We had a wonderful visit.

On 12/31, we did the laundry, starting doing some packing to head out for Tallassee and then it was rather nice, so we went to the beach for a couple of hours.  I did sit with a hoodie jacket on but with the sun out it was tolerable.

2/1 - We got packed up and said our "good byes" to the neighbors and headed north at about 10:00am.  It was really windy all the way up so had to drive slower than normal.  We also decided not to take the interstate route so had some stop and go issues when going through a lot of small towns but actually did not slow us down much since I could not drive fast because of the wind.  We stopped off for a quick lunch and then headed back out since we wanted to be all set up before the super bowl.  We arrived at the RV park at 4:00pm.  This is the second park since I have been traveling that I was able to do a pull through and did not have to back into the space.  We just finished in time with the outside set up before it started to rain.  It has been raining since.  It is a nice rain with no more wind and no thunderstorm.  It took a while to get the stupid TV up and running so we could watch the super bowl but finally got everything done.  We  had some dinner and now are settling in for the evening.

I have attached a picture of our space in Largo, Florida
