Updated Events

1/28/14 - It seems every day I am learning something new.  We had water shut off because of some repairs and I have excellent neighbors who told me to fill up my fresh water tank which I thought I did but then forgot to turn on the water pump so didn't have any water but was only for about 4 hours so it was not a problem.  Now, I have read up on the manual and plan to do a dry run so I know what I am doing but will have to wait until I get back into town.

Also, had quite a surprise when I went out to get my suitcase under the storage bin.  The suitcase and four boxes where sitting in water.  I soon learned from the neighbor that my ice maker hose had a pin hole and of course we are no sure when it started to leak so called a repair guy and it took three days to dry out!!  During that time, I needed to re-pack from the ruined boxes to dry boxes and some of the boxes had summer clothes in them so took them to the dryer to make sure that I did not have any mole in my clothes.  My cousin out in Sun City has extra closet space that she is not using so I needed up sorting everything and only keep 5 items of dresses, skirts, shirts, tops and pants for both winter and summer to travel with me.  Now, I have extra space down below in storage which is great.  I carried over six boxes of clothes because I am having a hard time getting rid of clothes but know it needs to be done sooner or later.

This past week end was quite busy since I have cousins here from Arkansas.  On Friday night we got together at my aunt's house for dinner and visiting.  On Saturday, my aunt had tickets to a broadway show which was "Seven Brothers for Seven Brides".  It was well done.  We went back to my aunt's house for dessert and played dominos.  On Sunday, we had early brunch and the cousins were off to the airport.

My aunt broke her femur just before the New Year, had major surgery with a plate and screws and is of course non weight bearing.  She has been in a group home with some rehab but will be released on Thursday so I am going in to COLD Cleveland, Ohio for at least three weeks to keep her company and help with anything that she needs.

Phoenix has been beautiful with high 70's so I am really spoiled.  Yesterday, went to Sun City to visit an aunt and uncle.  She is quilting baby quilts for a benefit sale and I have started to crochet a baby afghan.  We had a nice visit since I won't see them now until the end of February.

1/21/2014 - I sure have kept very busy.  Before I started this blog, I forgot to check the date of the last one so some could be a repeat.  Sorry.  I finally got busy in my storage area and dug out a box that had all loose stuff in it which was mostly recipes from all different sources.  I had a notebook already started so went to WalMart and got some page protectors an put all of my loose recipes in one spot.  I also found my recipe books so now I have them on the inside of the RV instead of the outside.

On Saturday evening, I had two friends over from Scottsdale for dinner so that was my first little dinner party.  The menu included chicken breast, rice and broccoli and a blueberry dessert.  We had a very nice time.

Yesterday, I made my first rhubarb pie and need to work on regulating my oven temperature since the outside crust is a little darker than what I like.

I have met several neighbors now and they are really friendly.  The neighbors next to me informed me that whenever someone is gone for several days they let the closest neighbors know so everyone watches out for each other.  Due to everyone around me being retired, not much happens here that not a few others know!!  It is interesting to hear them interact with each other.

My schedule today includes, going to a cousin's house to get some printed letters since my printer is still not hooked up.  She has also offered her laundry room for me so plan to do that as well.  We decided to do a little shopping while out her way.  The afternoon I will stop off at my Aunt and Uncle's house for a visit and then home for the evening.

Routine Day in Phoenix

1/14/2014 - Wow, it is amazing.  I have gotten a little lazy than I was hoping for and so now told myself that I needed to take a walk every day.  Last Friday, I had a nice surprise.  Diane and Dick Brooks stopped by for a short visit.  Diane and I worked together for many years and she has retired and moved to Tubac which is just south of Tucson.  It was so good to see her.  Of course, I will make plans to go down and visit with her as well.

We have cool mornings so I don't feel like doing anything until early afternoon and then it is beautiful so yesterday after fighting with Medicare, ( I don't have Part B yet) I decided to set out to find some of my kitchen stuff since I would like to make a pie and get some things out of my very full freezer.  I did find most of the stuff that I was looking for and even found most of my recipes so now have no excuse.  I also need to get my bicycle out and put air in the tires and try to ride that around the RV park.  It is a very large park so should get some exercise that way as well.

Sue came over for a while, we went to wash my car and then later off to Walmart (they have superstores here) for a few items.  I want to get something to try and get some of my recipes more organized.

Update

1/9/14 - Yesterday made broccoli cheese soup and salad for my aunt, uncle and cousin.  We had a nice lunch and visit.  Last night went to a friend's house for a little while and home.  Today am making my list for thank you cards and doing some googling to find some stores that I need to do some shopping in. Tonight plan to go see a movie.

Leaving San Diego

1/5/14 - Left San Diego at around 10:15am for Yuma, Arizona and took quick a while a little scary because of a lot of wind.  When stopped for gas was told to take a small highway that runs along the freeway because it was more in a gorge and the wind would not be so bad.  Got to Yuma around 5:00, ate some dinner, talked with the gentleman that let me park for free.

1/6/14 -  left for Phoenix around 8:15am and around 1:30pm arrived into Phoenix.  My friend and cousin met me at the park and we got set up, went for dinner and grocery store.  Relaxed and went to bed early.
