3/29/15 - On 3/24 in late afternoon, we drove to Tubac, Arizona and had dinner with my friend Diane and her husband Dick.  We had a lovely dinner and visit.  They are members of the Desert Museum so they gave us some guest passes.

3/25 - we spent all day at the Desert Museum and it was very interesting.  We had some scheduled shows including lizards, snakes and raptors.

3/26 - today we did not do much of anything but Aunt Esther packed a box and mailed it back to Cleveland.

3/27 - we decided to tour San Xavier Mission and the Titan Missile Museum.  They were both very interesting.  When we got to the mission, there was tour starting so we joined and the guide was very informative.  We then got to the missile museum to learn that we had a 1/2 hour for a tour but we waited it out.  We then drove back to Tubac and Diane took us to the town that has a lot of art and crafts.  We then went to the local italian restaurant for dinner which was delicious and ended our visit with my dear friends.

3/28 - Aunt Esther packed another box and we mailed it back to Cleveland.  Otherwise, because there was a slight breeze, we sat outside in the shade most of the time and read.

Today, we had to do laundry, Aunt Esther is packing and am watching March Madness!!  Thank goodness the laundry room had air conditioning so we at least were comfortable there.

I have attached a picture of the mission and also a beautiful blooming cactus:

3/24/15 - On 3/20, it was cold and rainy so we did nothing.  On 3/21, the weather was the same and we decided to try the little cafe up the street.  We had hamburgers and fries and it was very good.

On 3/22 - we left Whites City, New Mexico and had plans to drive to Las Cruces, New Mexico but then wanted to get more miles in the first day than the second day toward Tucson, Arizona.  We had good traveling and drove to Deming, New Mexico and parked at a Walmart that was very busy with semi trucks and other RV's in their parking lot.  There was a small strip mall within walking distance so we did a little shopping and learned there was an IHOP as well.

On 3/23 - we decided to eat a good breakfast at IHOP before we left the area.  We had a little wind but traveling went well.  We had a time change so we gained an hour.  We arrived at the campground in Tucson, Arizona and then had some difficulty getting the car off the tow bar.  A very kind gentleman helped us and then I decided to get some new C clamps so hopeful it will last a while now.  We got parked and finally was warm enough that we had to sweat a little to set up.  We also decided to put the awning up to get some shade since it will be rather warm this week.

Today, we need to run some errands and then plan to go visit my friend Diane in Tubac for the late afternoon and evening.

3/21/15 - On 3/18 we drove into Carlsbad, New Mexico to do some shopping and just look around.  We also drove up to the Caverns to get some information.

3/19 - we spent the day at the Caverns. We did the big room which was a little over a mile.  We had planned to have lunch at the cafe 750 feet underground but they had absolutely very little so we had lunch at the cafe instead.  It was very interesting and we our admission ticket is good for three days. Since it has been raining and cool, I don't think that we will be able to use the ticket any more since we are leaving tomorrow.

3/17/15 - On (3/16) we left the Home Depot parking lot and headed for Del Rio where we had planned to spend another night at Walmart on our way to Carlsbad, New Mexico.  When I called the RV park in White City, New Mexico (the place is closer to the Carlsbad Caverns) I was told that they do not make reservations and it was first come first serve and they only  have 12 spots so I was very uneasy about getting in to late on 3/17.  Therefore, we decided not to stop off in Del Rio but to make it a longer day and drive to Sanderson, Texas instead.  We were traveling a two lane highway and there was very few towns and then the towns were very small.  We found a spot to pull off the main highway between two little towns.  Had some dinner and were relaxing since we knew we would be going to bed early since we try to save the house batteries.  We soon learned that we were between a railroad track and the main highway.  So the first few hours of trying to get some sleep, trains were going by or semi trucks were driving by!!  Later, a truck pulled in right behind us and decided to keep his engine running so we got up and started driving.  It was close to 1:00am.

3/17 - We then found another small picnic area that had enough room for us so stopped again and now only had the semi trucks driving by!!  At some point, we had a truck stopped right behind us and another parked (barely off the road) in front of us!!  We decided to try a little sleep again when around 6:00am there was another truck that tried to stop and so we got up again and took off.  We found a gas station in Fort Stockton and stopped there to re-group and wait for day break. Around 8:00am, we left Fort Stockton and got into White City at 10:30am (there was a time change) and we got our spot.  Of course then it started to rain but we got the car unhooked and the RV hooked up before noon.  Now am trying to get warm, get a few things done and then will be taking a nap!!

03/15/15 - This morning we left Brownsville/South Padre Island around 10:40am.  We drove in rain for approximately the first couple of hours and then things cleared up and was a nice day.  We had a little over 200 miles to travel to get to Laredo, Texas.  We were going to park at a Walmart for the night but stated "no overnight parking" and just across the way is a Home Depot with a big parking lot so we are parked there.  Right next to us are a lot of semi trucks (cab only) so there is a lot of noise so not sure if we will get a lot of sleep.

3/13/15 - On (3/10) since it was going to be cool and rainy all day, we stopped off at a new grocery store (H.E.B.) to see what kind of things they had, went to the bank since the campground only accepted cash or check, then off to a movie and then out for a steak dinner since we thought we should eat some Texas steak.  It was very, very good.  On (3/11) we did nothing since it rained absolutely all day.  I did go to the office and paid the rent for the week and got rid of some garbage.

3/12, it finally was a nice sunny day with only a little wind so we drove over to South Padre Island and hang out at the beach.  We packed some lunch and read our books.  We shared the beach with spring break students so was quite busy and very well patroled by the city.  It definitely is a tourist type of place.  On the way back we had a coupon for a Dairy Queen so stopped off for that before we headed back to the campground.

Today, we need to run some errands to get ready for two days of dry camping on our way to New Mexico and also need to do some laundry.  Otherwise, no other plans for today.

3/9/15 - On 3/8 we left Corpus Christi around 10:40am in the rain.  Aunt Esther drove the whole 160 miles in the rain.  We arrived in Brownsville/South Padre Island at River Bend RV resort in the rain and got so wet taking off the car.  We had decided to just hook up the electric until the rain died down but before we even got parked it stopped for the evening and we got all set up.

Today, it starting raining just as we went to bed and it rained off and on all night long and this morning we even had some lightening and thunder but not for long.  Because it is suppose to rain all day today, we haven't decided if we want to do anything.  I did check and we could go see a movie so might do that.

Saturday, March 7, 2015

3/7/15 - On 3/6 we had reservation to see "Ghost, the Musical".  It was playing at a community theatre and it was really good.

Today, we drove downtown Corpus Christi looking for a market in a park. Well, our brochure gave some false information and we did not find any type of market.  On our way back we stopped off at a shopping center to look around and then did some other shopping and stopped at Walmart since I needed to get light bulbs for the kitchen.  Well, the bulbs still don't work because there is a electrical thing in there that is not working so now we have to take the whole thing a part or I have to get someone to come and fix it for me.  I have not decided what to do yet so will live without that particular light at this time.

3/5/15 - On 3/2 we drove around a little to get familiar with the area and found a Walmart so did a little shopping. The campground is within walking distance from the Corpus Christi Bay but is not accessible for walking since it is blocked off by the city.  On 3/3, we found a few unique shops and did some looking around and drove out to Mustang Island.  They had a beach access road and we drove out and watched the waves coming in off the Gulf of Mexico.  On 3/4, it was a nice day and up to 78 degrees but a little windy so we went to the Botanical Gardens.  It was really interesting and they have a nice rose garden but of course not much was in bloom.  The gardens are located in a marsh area so lots of water.

Today, we are not planning anything since it is only going to be a high of 43 degrees and wind is up to about 30 miles per hour so poor Winnie (RV) is rocking!! We have not made any more plans since we are waiting to see what the weather is going to do.

Monday, March 2, 2015

3/2/15 - We did not do much on Friday (2/27) but had laundry to do and then changed our sleeping arrangements since it was the end of the month.  On 2/28, we walked parts of the huge flea market but it was cold, rainy and windy so I did not stay very long.  We did some things to get ready for the move to Corpus Christi, Texas.

3/1/15 - We left Houston, Texas around 10:00am in rain.  It rained off and on for the first part of the drive.  We had approximately 230 miles.  The second half of the drive, we did not have much rain.  We got to our destination around 3:30pm.  We are located on the south east part of Corpus Christi but it is rather cool and rainy so not sure what we will get accomplished today.  We are waiting for the propane truck before we can plan anything at all.
