05/24/18 - Time to get some blogging done.

05/07, I left the RV at 4 50 am for a 5 11 departure from the Phoenix light rail that takes you to 44th street and then the Sky train takes you directly to the airport.  I was able to walk to the station.  It was great.  Got to the airport but ended up in the wrong place to put my bag underneath and it was rather heavy but does fit in the bins above your seat.  When I got to the gate, they announced that the flight was full and wanted to do a courtesy bag check.  I was so happy.  Had a good flight and Aunt Esther and I were only about 15 minutes apart in arrival to Seattle so we met at the baggage claim area.  We walked and walked and got ourselves out in the parking garage area to look for our transport which was pre-paid.  Well, we could not find them and soon were directed to another place and ended up on a bus from Holland America to the ship.  Finally, got checked in and off to the cabin.  We then had a safety drill and off to dinner.  Ate with two other couples.  Off to bed.

5/8, All day sailing.  Nothing eventful but lots of eating!!

5/9, We are in Ketchikan, Alaska for the day.  It was cold and rainy but we put on coats, hats and umbrellas and went to the Lumberjack show which was really good.

5/10, Our next stop was Juneau.  There we went on a whale, sea lion and eagle spotting tour.  We were guaranteed to see whales or we would get $100 back.  Well, we did not get out very far before one was spotted.  We then saw some more on our way and even had a two give us the wonderful tail pose.  It was great.  We saw lots of sea lions on a small beach and of course lots of eagles.  They served hot chocolate and smoked salmon on crackers.  Aunt Esther ate my share!

5/11, We had a sailing day that included a fjord which at the end was a glacier.  It was smaller than Glacier Bay or Hubbard Bay but very interesting since we traveled all the way in.  We were scheduled to do Tracy Arms but it had too much ice for the ship to get in.  We saw some brown bears on our way and some people saw seals on icebergs but I did not sea those.  It was a good sailing day.
