7/17/15 - On 7/16, I left at 8:11am and headed for the north end of Yellowstone. It was kinda a cool day but nice traveling since no rain. It got a little windy on the north end but was OK. I went to Mammoth Hot Springs and walked around the fort area for a little while. I found the herd of elk taking a break in a court yard so I am not sure if they were wild or not. They made sure that everyone stayed on the sidewalk and a little distance from them.

I then drove the west side of the park going home and got into major road construction and it was quite the mess. Sure was glad when that ended. I then stopped off at what they call the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone with upper and lower falls. I stopped off on the upper falls.

After 8 hours and 50 minutes and 259 miles later, I arrived back to the campground.
Today, it is very cool and cloudy so I am staying in and taking it easy. Since it is cool I have decided to make a peach cobbler for my dessert for the next week.

"Cool" sounds rather wonderful! It is so hot in Delaware that we actually lost about 20 chickens in one of our houses yesterday from the heat. Daniel said it was all because of listening to his flock supervisor. (If he had done what he thought he should do, it wouldn't have happened!) I told him that he has more "chicken sense" in his little finger than some of those people have in their whole heads. And that is TRUE! I am loving all these travel stories. I keep thinking of you doing this all alone, and I hope that you aren't lonely! We do miss you.
I wish that you could see my tea bed. It is spectacular! I never would have dreamed that it would do so well, but we've had lots of rain and lots of heat and we have such a wonderful "crop." I will need to take a picture and post it. Our onions are rather pitiful, and we have something wrong with the peppers. The squash have been producing more than I can almost keep up with and we are nearly done with our potato rows. I still haven't picked any pole limas. It looks like we will be doing corn towards the end of next week. I'm not sure how much, but we've ordered a thousand ears for a starter. Corn is high this year -- you would think with such a good crop the prices would come down, but I think it is as high as 50 cents an ear in some places. We will be paying 25, I think. Next week when you are seeing all those exciting places, you can be thankful that you aren't up to your elbows in corn! :)
Love you!
