4/11/16 - On 4/6, I went over to Aunt Ada's so we could take the car in for a possible small oil leak to a mechanic that she uses. We dropped off the car and then went back to her house for lunch. In the afternoon, we went to a movie and then stopped by the auto shop to get the verdict. I learned that it was in the transmission and got quoted a price of $3000 for repairs. I was shocked. I told them that I would need to get second opinion before I would commit to the repairs.
4/7 - My neighbor Sally, (who is also traveling alone in an RV) came over with her awning book since mine was stuck and I could not get anyone out to look at it until Tuesday 4/12. She was concerned because the forecast was for a windy rainy storm approaching on Friday night. We read that we could somehow jump the motor to get the awning to retract but we could not reach the motor so I went two doors down to talk with Herb to see if he had a four step ladder when he informed me that there was a very good mobile awning guy around. Herb gave me the number and I called. Darrell was extremely nice and detected in my voice that I was alittle anxious because the awning was out and a storm was coming. He informed me that he lived in my area and would stopped by on his way home. Darrell had the proper equipment to jump the motor so the awning was in for the storm. That late evening, it was very windy and rainy and I was so glad for Darrell.
4/8 - Darrell came out and we had to take all kinds of things apart because I just did not have power to make the motor work but yet when he gave it power I had a good motor! Eventually, he learned that the source of power was coming from my starter battery (motor battery) and since I have been sitting in a space for the past 4 months my battery was draining. We started the engine and got the battery charged a little and then the awning would work. Since I sit more than drive, he changed the power source from engine battery to house battery and since I have been using electricity all these months. My awning has been working perfectly.
4/9 - Did some grocery shopping and then finished another baby afghan so I could take it to Aunt Ada's so we could block it on Sunday when I went over to church.
4/10 - To church and lunch with Aunt Ada and Robyn. We then blocked the afghan. In the evening, Aunt Ada and I went back to church for a concert.
Today, I am out of jail regarding the C-Pap machine. I have faithfully done by 31 days so Medicare will pay for the machine. I am beginning to feel that I am getting better quality of sleep when actually sleeping. Still taking a long time to fall asleep so will probably start with the machine but then take it off during the early morning hours. Not sure yet so time will tell!! I made some brownies to share with Herb and Sally because of their kindness, I have a great awning!!
