11/29/15 - On 11/28, we went to a barbecue and then watched the Notre Dame game with my friend Anne's parents house.  We had a great time and said my final good byes to Anne and Laura.

Today, we washed the windows of the car since I can not reach the middle of the windshield or the back window.  We put things away and Onita packed and we left for LAX at 1:00pm since we had no idea about traffic.  It was some stop and go and took us 3 1/2 hours to get her dropped off.  She had quite a wait since I dropped her off three hours early of departure but we did not know about security lines so she was happy to be there early and not rushed.  She texted me at 4:50 and was already through security.  I could not believe it.  Driving back was good since the flow of traffic was much better and I drove it in 2 1/2 hours.  I had a great week end with Onita and sure am glad to came to visit.

Thanks so much for keeping us up to date, Lena. I read this blog all the time -- check it every day, pretty much. And I'm glad that Onita could be with you for the weekend. I remember her and Gina and Connie all coming to our house to babysit -- and what an incredible blessing it was to this Mama who had five foster kids and three were under two and a half. I know it wasn't fun, and I sometimes wonder why they agreed to come (I have a feeling Aunt Leona had a good bit to do with that!) but come they did! And every now and then, Daniel and i would get a night out -- we would go to Bonanza, get a chopped steak, salad, rolls and drink for under ten dollars for both of us. I'm pretty sure we didn't overpay our babysitters, either. But what a wonderful break it was for me. As the years have passed, I made sure that my girlies babysat for young moms needing a break and didn't overcharge them. I often said to them, "Daddy's cousins, Gina, Nita and Connie babysat for us when I needed a break. They never complained, they always did what they could to tidy up, and if there was laundry to fold, they folded it. They were such a boost to me. Now you have an opportunity to do that for another young mom, and you will never know how much it helps them to have another pair of hands. Do what you can to help in any way that you can. Someday you will be so glad you did!" I'm not sure they caught all of that -- or if they practiced it like I thought they should, but I remembered Uncle Allen's daughters and I tried hard to pass on the gift that was given to me. Blessings to you on this day. I hope all is well in your little home.

I just got your comment. I did not know that they were so involved with your foster kids. Also love to know a little history.
